She waited

Raquel .JPGThis is Rachel, a 31-year-old assistant who recently married a 36-year-old pastor last October 31st. When I met Rachel for the first time, I decided to write about her not only because her story is quite unique, but also because it has a very common beginning, which is why it strongly inspired me.

Rachel came to the church when she was only 14. Being born in a Catholic home, Rachel had always believed in God but she and her family suffered a lot, and didn’t know how to use all that faith into solving their problems. Once they heard about the UCKG in Spain, they started to attend and miracles began to happen, one by one. Rachel immediately fell in love with God and decided to give her life back to Him.

She was blessed in every area of her life, except one…

Within a year in the church, Rachel’s determination into serving God led her to become an active Church member, not only in church but most of all outside the church, telling everyone in her path what God had done in her life. But time passed way too quickly and Rachel went from being a teenager to a grown woman in no time. For someone who had never dated anyone, people began to talk…and all she would tell herself was that ‘even if I have to wait until I’m old, I will wait because I know God has prepared someone for me’.

She participated of campaigns of Israel and would often sacrifice jewelry, vacations, salary, and others – all for one only request: marry a pastor and serve God on the altar thereafter. It was a hard, painful, and worst of all, lonely fight.

Last July, at 31 years of age, Rachel decided to sacrifice something she had never had the courage to before. She had a beautiful closet full of nice clothes (clothes and fashion has always been her favorite hobby). She sold all her clothes to the point of wearing the same t-shirt day after day to work and church. The minute she made that vow to God, she felt a strong peace inside…’Now it’s up to you Lord. I’ll never ever ask for this again – I’ve literally given my all for this dream and now I’ll simply trust.’

Two months later here I, Cristiane, was speaking to a friend on SKYPE out of the blue. I asked her if she knew any young woman personally who would be a good pastor’s wife candidate. She told me about Rachel and sent me her details that same afternoon. I forwarded it immediately to the pastor, who checked his email within the hour and called me right after saying ‘THIS IS THE ONE!

This pastor had seen tons of other candidates and this was certainly not about the looks or personality. It was something else…

That same weekend, Rachel came to Houston, met the pastor, fell in love with him, and married him within a month. They’re the happiest they’ve ever been!

God is aware of all our sacrifices and prayers but are we aware of God’s perfect time? When the blessing comes from God, it’s certain, there’s no doubt, it’s perfect; but it also comes in the right time. If you do your part and trust that it will come no matter what, it will certainly be a blessing.

Rachel waited 15 years to meet and marry her first boyfriend ever. A man of God she had dreamed of all along. She didn’t mind waiting, she didn’t mind trusting, and so God didn’t mind blessing her miraculously either.
