OUR PROPOSAL

mamaIf we give someone a hamper, yes, we are doing some good because we are supplying food for few days but if we teach this someone how to fend for himself, we are actually giving him the condition for continuous provision.

This is our thought and motivation in our project of empowerment and transfer of skills. In partnership with the Stop Suffering Help Centre, we have accommodated 10 breadwinners, mothers, from Diepsloot location, who are right now unemployed;  two pastors’ wives diligently worked with them teaching them bead and jewellery design.

We have also given them a simple but consistent explanation on how to run a small business by calculating cost, replacement of raw material and profit.

These fine ladies took the opportunity in hands and learnt all they could,  now being  able to start their own business or to develop a part time activity to feed their families.

It was with great honour that the Women in Action presented them with their completion certificates in our event in Soweto, offering also a starter pack containing beads, thread and necessary tools for the job.

These ladies are our first fruits but surely not last ones because we will invest all our efforts in continuing with empowerment and transfer of skills in different areas as sewing, embroidering, catering, etc.

Our work will always be in underprivileged communities and we know we will be seeing the result of better living conditions for those who join this program.
