Campaign: Saving a Tamar

Who is Tamar?

You may be wondering who is Tamar and why we need to save her!

I am very pleased to introduce to you our new WiA campaign that will be launched at a special meeting in Soweto, on 9th August, 2010. We will be taking a stand against the Abuse of Women and Children in our society and we will be looking at the matter, not from a feminist but from a feminine perspective, within the context of the Holy Bible and examining the purpose for which God has created women.

Tamar, as the Bible records in 2 Samuel 13:1-21, was one of David’s daughters who was abused by her own brother, Amnon. There are many Tamars all around us being physically, sexually and emotionally abused. Families are devastated as a result of it, lives are shattered by abuse and dreams are destroyed by regret and pain.

We will celebrate Women’s Day holding up the banner of peace. We will focus on awareness and bring comfort to those who have been victims of this experience. We count on you to support this campaign.

This is our Tamar, the symbol for our campaign. Watch this space to learn more about it. From now on, make your decision and help us to “Save a Tamar”.

WiA takes action in PE

Night vigil fotos 4The New Year’s Night Vigil in Port Elizabeth brought lots of blessings to the UCKG Family in Nelson Mandela’s Bay! The cherry on the top  was the special participation of the wives working there who have prepared a song presentation to entertain our members and to break the year in pure joy. Well done WiA from PE!

We did it again!

16736_1089983228349_1789546444_176392_527948_nWe are just coming back from our HIV Awareness march, from Newtown. It was an awesome opportunity to bring clarity to the matter of why the UCKG has so emphatically supported the distribution of condoms and awareness in this regard. To those who criticize us, we respect your views but to all those infected or affected, I know you understand our urge and drive. The message is being sent across this nation for 15 years but still statistics are on high so not only words but action: awareness, support group, education will help us to bring the numbers down.

WiA was there in full solidarity and 17 of our members have been introduced to the crowd as HIV Aids STI’s Peer Educators – this is action all about.

HIV march

We are inviting you to join us in march this coming December 5th in support to those infected and affected by this pandemic. The march is a symbol but the real protest must be in each one’s heart. To protest alone is not enough if we do not take a stand, we do not educate our friends and children about HIV/Aids. logo4Education alone is not enough… we need to lead them to value their life, to dream for a future and if the price to be paid is abstain, so be it. We need to voice the message of faithfulness and we need to help out those who are not willing to accept AB, to Condomize. Many women are being taken into this wave of destruction and sadness because they are not sure of the faithfulness of their partners and they cannot risk their health and family well being. There is abundance of knowledge and words but lack of action so take action this time and join us in this march.
